Acquaints with the historic centre of the city, its churches and the unique open-air museum on the embankment of lake Onego. Then a hydrofoil "Cometa" brings the group to the island of Kizhi in lake Onego. Kizhi is the gem of Karelia where the world-wide known museum of wooden architecture is placed. The group visits the historical-architectural and ethnographic outdoor museum. On coming back from the island – transfer to the hotel.
On the way to Sortavala ( we visit the Memorial Cross established in memory of the Winter War. During our visit to Valaam you will experience the tour from the Central Monastery to Resurrection Skete. Also, you will have unique opportunity to have lunch at the monastery refectory. After the active day in Valaam we have late arrival back to Petrozavodsk.
By the next day you will be introduced to two natural attractions. Kivach Nature Reserve where you will see the most famous waterfall in Karelia - Kivach and the Botanical Garden of the famous Karelian birch. The ancient volcano Girvas is unique by its beauty attraction of Karelia, surrounded by dense pine. Here the most ancient rocks side by side with the powerful sandy sediments, related to ice age.
Departure to Solovki crossing the White Sea. Tour of the Central Monastery.Walk to the Cape of Mazes on the picturesque shore of the White Sea. Here you can see dancing birches and stone labyrinths. At the end of the day you will have a free time to explore and enjoy the Island. Please, feel free to rent a bicycle.Overnight at the Hotel “Solovetskaya Sloboda”.
The last but not least day starts with the bus excursion to the Sekirnaya Gora. It is the place where during the times of the Solovetsky camps there was a punishment cell for prisoners. The central building of which is unique lighthouse church.Then we visit one of the northernmost botanical gardens in Russia, which is located on the territory of the former monastery.The highlight of the day is the trip to the Zayatsky Island to the mysterious mazes. Overnight at the hotel "Pier" (Kem).
At the last day we go back to Kem train station where we will to tell a warm goodbye to each other and complete our great adventure. Departure by train to Moscow / to St. Petersburg.
